Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo is an ecological alternative for hardwood. Since environment has become a real issue, cutting trees is prohibited in quite some countries. Bamboo here can make a dramatic positive impact and start to play an important role. Bamboo is a very fast growing plant with a very short growth cycle. It can be cut in 5-6 years unlike 15-20 years for most other wood.

Bamboo floorings can withstand heavy traffic, and it can be installed in entrance hallways, kitchens, bedrooms, lounges, and even game rooms.

SIHE Bamboo Flooring is manufactured from mature bamboo stems, which have at least five years growth and are selectively harvested from managed forests. Phyllostachys Pubescens is well known for its distinctive features such as having a straight main stem, which has little difference between upper and lower diameter. It has thicker texture, denser fiber and lower content carbohydrate than other sorts of bamboo. Harvesting the Bamboo for SIHE Bamboo flooring does not affect the feeding habits of the Panda Bear.

SIHE Bamboo Flooring is treated with a steaming and heating process, dehydrated and oven stoved. Anti-insect and anti-mildew processes are applied to avoid the re-production of bacteria and the allergic reaction before the laminating and heat pressing begins. The board is then formed, and a UV lacquer is applied. In all, there are 28 different processes involved in the manufacturing of SIHE bamboo flooring boards.

Bamboo Manufacturing

Bamboo stem are hollow. The hollow stems are cut to size and the outside knots and ridges are removed. The stems are then cut into strips, making it possible to easily remove the knot from the core of the stalk and the outside skin. Then thin bamboo strips are first treated with non-toxic pest repellent before being dried, shaped, and sanded. After the strips of bamboo are completely dried, they are glued together to produce bamboo boards or sheets. The boards and sheets are coated with a protective UV coaling on all sides and exposed to UV rays. This is not only a drying process; it also hardens the boards or sheets, contributing to the strength of our flooring board. The desired bamboo color, caramel, spice or coffee is reached after putting the bamboo strips into a boiler (carboning process).
